Two Tone Kitchen Cabinet Ideas
The current décor trend of warm wood tones and bold rich color is influencing kitchen design. We’re finding many of our clients are embracing the trend, despite their love of white or light kitchens. They are maintaining the bright and airy feel they are drawn to, while welcoming trendy, organic woods, by incorporating two tone cabinetry in their kitchen designs. This trend works well whether you lean towards modern or traditional. Simply consider the second tone as an accent.
Eye Catching Islands
One way to add visual interest is to keep the cabinets monochromatic and create contrast with natural wood cabinetry for the island. This is a chic, simple way to add warmth and be on trend without sacrificing the look of a clean, white or light kitchen. As you can see from the images below, this type of statement island is a popular choice for K&B clients.
If you want to make a bolder statement, contrasting cabinets are the perfect option. A wall of cabinetry the complements the other cabinets in the kitchen creates a stunning focal point. The cabinetry and island below contrast white cabinets opposite them.
Mixing tones throughout the space can bring balance and add dimension. A painted section of cabinets can break up a monotone natural wood color palette.
Tip: If you are considering mixing tones, be sure to consider balance between bold and neutral. The color wheel can help you find two tones that work well together. Adjacent colors on the wheel are good choices, as are colors across from each other, which complement one another.
