New Year, New Kitchen
Get Inspired with These Kitchen Remodeling Ideas and Images

With the new year, we say farewell to the old and hello to the new. And what better place to start than with the kitchen. The kitchen is the center of the home. It is where we gather with family and friends for meals, snacks, a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. It is also an area to pop open the laptop to get some work done or peruse the internet, and a place for children to do their homework. The kitchen has truly become an important living space. So, it should embody your style and function to meet your lifestyle needs.
K&B Home Solutions has installed and remodeled MANY kitchens of varying sizes, shapes and styles. We have learned over the years that when designing a new kitchen, you should consider:
Style. Your kitchen should reflect your taste and complement the rest of your home. The style – modern, traditional, country casual – will set the tone for the kitchen design.
Cabinet Colors. White continues to be a popular choice for cabinets. This clean color is timeless and can be used in almost any kitchen style. Dark cabinets exude elegance and luxury and can add drama – you just need to make sure they don’t overpower the room. On the fence? Combine the two options by incorporating white cabinets and a dark stained island.
Materials and Textures. Bring warmth and charm to the room with a combination of materials and textures, such as natural stone floor tiles or wood flooring, a sculpted or beveled backsplash, and a coffered ceiling. These additions make beautiful focal points.
Countertops. Because it is durable and so easy to maintain, quartz counters remain a favorite. It is available in a wide range of colors and realistic stone patterns. Traditional granite and marble are still popular. Despite the surface type, we are seeing a trend in light colored countertops, which follows the trend of cleaner styled kitchens.
Islands. If the kitchen is the center of the home, the island is the hub of the kitchen. Islands are not an afterthought, they are center stage. They house extra storage and under-counter appliances like microwaves and beverage coolers – and serve as breakfast bars.
Storage. Ample storage in a kitchen is key! A range of storage options are now available to make your life easier – drawer dividers for utensils and cutlery, dividers for cooking trays, drawers for pots and pans, waste baskets for garbage and recyclables.
Appliances. While stainless steel appliances are still the top choice, we are seeing colorful options, such as grey, red and blue. Separate cooktops and wall ovens are also sought after.
