Home Remodeling Trends for 2019
With each new year, comes new home design and remodeling trends. While there are classic features that stand the test of time – such as shaker cabinets, custom trim work, and wood flooring – other design elements continuously change and evolve. Many of our clients turn to our in-house design consultant for advice on the latest looks they should incorporate. So, we have pulled together 5 of the remodeling and design trends we think will be key in 2019.
Destination Bathtubs
Recently, the “tub” has taken center stage – and we anticipate that trend to continue in 2019. Jetted tubs built-in next to showers have been replaced with free standing soaking tubs that command attention. These works of art are usually nestled beneath windows with wonderful views to turn bathing into a relaxing retreat.
Glass-Free Showers
Most people do not take a bath every day. So, showers are still a strong focus in a bathroom remodel. Over the years, shower enclosures have shifted from curtains to framed glass to frameless glass. Now, glass-free showers are making a mark. If you have the room, a small curb and a partial wall are all you need for an open shower.
Natural Elements
This year, there will be a move toward embracing natural materials, such as stone and granite. Incorporating them in flooring, countertops, and fireplace surrounds brings the outdoors ins, creating an organic feel in the space.
Focal Point Backsplashes
Dramatic statements are being made in the kitchen when it comes to tile. Full-height backsplashes that run from the counter to the ceiling – such as behind range hoods – are being used to create a bold, cohesive look.
Richer Color Palettes
While muted hues make spaces feel larger and more airy, 2019 may be the year of darker colors. The deeper hues make muted furniture and accessories pop, as well as create a warm, serene space.
